Free One-Hour Informational Sessions on the College Application Landscape

I love to work with non-profit organizations and community groups!  Are you a member of a PTA, a neighborhood group, a book club, or a professional organization whose members might be interested in learning more about the college admissions landscape?  I would be delighted to come to your organization for a free one hour informational session and Q and A.

  • Very helpful and insightful. Although we just went through the college process with our daughter, every kid is different and has different needs and interests so it was valuable to look at it from our son’s perspective. LB’s knowledge, empathy, and first-hand experience provides meaningful (and comforting) insight into what can often be an intimidating process.
    — Michael H., parent of HS Sophomore
  • The information provided gave us guidance and structure of the college selection process. We are very thankful for this session and it was time well spent.
    — Shelley Y., parent
  • The information was very useful, I learned a lot and walked away with sound advice.
    — Catherine M., parent of HS Junior
  • We all learned so much and enjoyed your knowledge and energy. Happy to now have some tools to start putting some constructive thought in that direction.

LIST DEVELOPMENT SERVICES

Finding the right school can be a challenging a process, one that I am here to help families navigate. Please reach out if you are interested in learning more.

  • Questionnaires to both the student and parents to begin process of thinking about best fit factors financially, socially and academically.

  • You get these back to me along with grade reports for all years of HS and any other academic information I need.

  • We then all get together to go over the questionnaires. This meeting takes about an hour.

  • I do the research and put together a list of schools with all data points, reviews, notes on why I think the school might be a good match, and whether or not they are reach, right in a student’s wheelhouse, or safety schools.  I also discuss merit opportunities.

  • I put this list into a program called Counselmore, which is a great resource for tracking research and building your list.  Each student/family will have on-going access to Counselmore to use independently.

  • We review how to use additional resources and what questions to ask when you are doing your research.

  • ...both my kids were significantly ahead of schedule and well poised for starting the college application process. Just learning about the writing tactics and subject ideas from the coaches was beneficial in itself.
    — Lisa L. parent of two Seniors (Claremont Mckenna and Lewis and Clark)
  • Essays that require such reflection and are of such importance can make getting the pen to paper difficult, but LB and the other tutors taught me tactics which allowed me to approach the essays confidently and uniquely each time.
    — Dustin L., HS Senior, ED Claremont McKenna College
  • I was much less stressed then a lot of my friends because I had such a good jump start on my essays. I was easily able to meet the early action and early decision deadlines because of the help from Andrea and LB.
    — Ella N., HS Senior, ED Whitman College
